When we began seeking donations for the new Bookmobile in 2019, we never anticipated a spring 2023 arrival. The impact of the pandemic has taken a toll in many ways. While supply chain issues continue to impact the construction of the Bookmobile, the pandemic has clearly shown how much the Bookmobile is needed.
As we wait with great anticipation for the new Bookmobile’s delivery, your ongoing support remains crucial. The Bookmobile is the primary library branch for most of Aurora’s more vulnerable populations—especially children.
The current Bookmobile was put into service in 2003. It is feeling its age; however, we are committed to keeping it on the road until the new Bookmobile arrives. Many of you have asked what will become of the current Bookmobile when the new one “hits the road.” We’re still evaluating the most effective use. I will keep you informed about this.
Support received for the new Bookmobile will provide:
- STEM kits
- Robotic gadgets
- Dual language books for young readers to keep accompanied by literacy activities that relate to the story and small motor skill tools
- 3D printer and craft/demonstration supplies
- A bubble machine and bubble formula (bubbles are fun and they also attract children and families to the Bookmobile creating opportunities to learn)
Please know how thankful we are for your support!
