Aurora Public Library Foundation Overview
The Aurora Library Foundation (APLF) was founded in 2000 with the mission of further supporting the needs and services of the public library and the greater Aurora community who access them.
Over our 25 years, we have funded infrastructure expansion projects, bookmobile updates, children’s literacy programs and a host of business, technology, school, and cultural programs that are free to the community.
Today, We Continue to Fund Three Library-Wide Programs!
Rory’s Readers Adventure Kits
Launched in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rory’s Readers Adventure Kits were created to support children and families during a time of unprecedented challenges.
Rory ’s Readers Adventure Kits
Each kit includes bilingual books, engaging activities, and special gifts designed to encourage family reading time and help families build their own home libraries. By providing accessible, high-quality resources, Rory’s Readers inspires a lifelong love of reading and learning in both English- and Spanish-speaking households
Light of Learning Scholarships
The Light of Learning Scholarships were created to support families and individuals living in the unincorporated areas of Aurora, where many residents live at or below the poverty line.
These scholarships cover the $282 annual fee required for full library access, an amount that can be a significant barrier for
those struggling financially. By funding these scholarships, donors help ensure that everyone in our community can enjoy the full benefits of a library card: borrowing books and materials, booking meeting spaces, and participating in educational programs and events. Your support opens the door to learning, opportunity, and community connection for those who need it most.
'Excitment is Building' Branch Renovation Enrichment Projects
As the busiest location in our system, the Eola Road Branch plays a vital role in serving the rapidly growing east side of Aurora. Originally built in 1993 and expanded in 2003, the branch now faces the challenges of an expanding and evolving customer base.
