I know so many children and families like Sammy’s. Through my roles as the President of the Aurora Public Library District Foundation and as an employee of Family Focus, I hear stories likeSammy’s every day. And even more so right now.

As you can imagine, the pandemic has created expanded hardships, especially for many of our vulnerable children and their families.

During this unprecedented time, the Foundation partnered with the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, preschools and SPARK to get literacy tools and resources to families like Sammy’s. The Bookmobile is the primary library for most of our residents with educational, financial and other challenges. Since we could not have the Bookmobile operating for most of 2020, we did everything we could to help. Over 10,000 literacy packets were delivered. We could not have done this with out Literacy Heroes. Thank you!

As our story continues, we need to ask you to keep being Literacy Heroes and help us replace our 2003 Bookmobile with a new, 21st century one.
